Metabolomics-based photosynthetic metabolic engineering
Tomohisa Hasunuma is the Director of Engineering Biology Research Center, and concurrently serves as the Professor of Graduate School of Science, Technology and Innovation at Kobe University, Japan. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD in the Department of Biotechnology at Osaka University, Japan. He is the author or co-author of over 200 peer-reviewed journal papers and 77 reviews and book chapters. His research interests in engineering biology of microorganisms such as E. coli, cyanobacteria, yeast and microalgae based on metabolism analysis, and metabolic engineering for the production of biofuels, commodity chemicals and highly functional compounds. He was awarded the Fermentation and Metabolism Research Prize of Japan Bioindustry Association in 2013 and the Biotechnology Encouragement Prize of Biotechnology Society of Japan in 2014. Since 2024, he has been an Associate Editor for ACS Synthetic Biology.
