Cyanobacterial cell factories: turning CO2 into circular chemicals
Dr. Aniek van der Woude completed her PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2012, and then joined Photanol, a company that revolutionizes biotechnology by converting CO2 into renewable chemicals. With a passion for sustainability that could rival the power of photosynthesis, she's now leading Photanol’s strain engineering. Her work at Photanol, leveraging the unique properties of cyanobacteria, showcases the potential of biotechnology to address environmental challenges. By focusing on the development of CO2-based biochemicals, Aniek and her team are at the forefront of creating greener production processes. Her role as R&D Manager is steering the research strategies and overseeing the development of cyanobacterial cell factories for different product lines. She has been involved in patenting key inventions, GMO permitting and several European and national projects. .
